Fighting al-Qaeda/Jihadism Both at Home and Overseas

She's right, when it comes to defeating al-Qaeda, the individual will save the day. In this particular case, a US citizen, Joseph Shahada is knocking deadly dangerous militant Islamist websites off the internet.

As to waging war against al-Qaeda in Iraq, Michael Ledeen writes that we could actually be winning the war In Iraq-in real terms. This is notable, because Mr. Ledeen expressed reservations about invading Iraq in the run up to the invasion there. It's notable also because Ledeen is an expert on the Middle East, especially Iran:

Should we declare victory over al Qaeda in the battle of Iraq?

The very question would have seemed proof of dementia only a few months ago, yet now some highly respected military officers, including the commander of Special Forces in Iraq, Gen. Stanley McCrystal, reportedly feel it is justified by the facts on the ground.

Captain's Quarters comments on Ledeen's piece.

The Asia Times reports that Pakistan has declared all out war on terrorists in Waziristan:

Just how important is this coming battle?

This could prove to be the turning point in the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan while setting al-Qaeda’s operations back to where they were in 2003 after the Taliban was defeated. A “qualified” intelligence estimate is that pacification of the Waziristans would reduce the capability of the Afghan resistance by 85% as well as “deliver a serious setback to the Iraqi resistance” who depend on the bases in Waziristan for money, weapons, and logistical support.

Columbia's Ahmadinejad Invitation

So Lee Bollinger, invited the Islamo-fascist Ahmadinejad, to speak at Columbia University. The Iranian pip-squeak shows up to give his speech a couple days ago, and Bollinger harshly scolds him for being the murderous dictatorial tyrant that Ahmadinejad is.

Dean Barnett has a point, that Bollinger is to be applauded for looking evil in the eye and calling it out, but that Columbia should have never have invited the jerk in the first place.

John Podhoretz also makes a good point when he writes that Bollinger should not have invited Ahmadinejad to speak, and then use this as an opportunity to (metaphorically) pin him to the wall.

There is a larger point to be made here, I think. Doesn't all of this seem/feel awfully contrived? Regardless of the particulars in this case, Ahmadinejad, Bollinger and Columbia University got tons and tons of publicity and media love this week. All kinds of attention from conservative bloggers, talk radio, Free Republic, Rush Limbaugh, and on and on. And isn't this the real object of Columbia and Ahmadinejad's exercise? How many web pages were generated this week that focused their text, photos and videos on the Iranian Little Man, Bollinger and Columbia? The answer, obviously, is tons and tons of web pages. And all of these web pages are linked to and from each other, creating an internet web that extends from hither and yon - all of them generating serious tonnage in Google's search engine rankings and revenue for Google Adsense.

The moral of my little rant: it's really Google that runs the world.

Bollinger, the President of Columbia University, isn't the first president of the school to invite a fascist to speak. Nicholas Butler, the president in 1933 invited Hitler's ambassador to speak there.

Osama bin Laden Videos, 1,008,468,247 Served

Yada yada yada and blah blah blah, OBL has released another video. Does his mouth move in this one, or is 90% of it freeze framed like the previous? He really is tiresome, and embarrassingly ineffective (from the jihadist point of view).

Obsession, the Documentary, Is Controversial in the Academy

Obsession, is a vitally important documentary. Using video footage from Arab television, Obsession describes how too many Muslims are indoctrinated into the Islamic Jihad movement. Also depicted, is the historical connection between Nazism and the jihadis. I own a DVD of the movie, and I recommend that all Americans view this important film. I believe that our survival as a country is at stake in our war against radical Islam.

Obsession, the movie, is finally beginning to get some attention.

Every American Should Watch Obsession, the Movie - UPDATED

I just watched for free, via an internet video stream (see update below, as the video has been pulled from Google Video), the movie, Obsession, Radical Islam's War Against the West. This is a powerful documentary that every American should see. Please send the link to the movie to everyone that you know. The movie contains:

  • Hitler meeting with the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem during World War II
  • Video from an Arab TV station portraying stories of Jewish blood libel
  • Interviews by Steve Emerson and Daniel Pipes among others

I have put a permanent link to Obsession, Radical Islam's War Against the West, in the upper right column of this blog.

Michael Medved wrote about this film:

"Obsession" is one of the most powerful, expertly crafted and undeniably important films I've seen this year. This courageous, utterly gripping expose' deserves the attention of every American -- and merits serious consideration for the Academy Award for Best Feature Length Documentary."

As someone I know said:

This is a documentary we all need to watch.  The footage in this film will BLOW YOUR MIND!!!!  WAKE UP AMERICA...WE'RE IN THE FIGHT OF OUR LIVES, in case you hadn't noticed.

Again, please watch this movie and send the link to the film to everyone you know.

UPDATED 9/20/2006: The video stream posted above of the movie, Obsession, was pulled from the internet today (I think). I have sent a message to Obsession, the Movie people to ask what their policy is where internet streaming of their movie is concerned.

Meanwhile, I've purchased a DVD copy of the film from their website.

UPDATED 9/21/2006: The excellent docu-drama from ABC, Path to 9-11, is available online at the ABC web site here.

VDH: "It’s not him; it’s what he’s supposed to be communicating"

Read Victor Davis Hanson's, Mr. Bush’s Communication Problem, column today:

But why should it, when the hard hand of American war was not first completely felt — nor the jihadists utterly vanquished and discredited and any who supported them? Unless there is some element of fear, or at least the suggestion of consequences to come for recalcitrance, why should an Iraqi cease his easy support of Hezbollah, his anti-Semitism, or his cheap support for Islamist terrorists around the block? It would be as if we expected to end slavery outright in the Confederacy around 1862, or rid Germany of Nazis around 1943, or persuade the Japanese fascists to vote in 1944 — before such ideologies have been utterly defeated and the steep price for those who tolerated them paid in full.

So what Mr. Bush is faced with is this nearly impossible paradox of half war/half peace: at a time when most are getting fed up with abhorrent Middle Eastern jihadists who blow up, hijack, and behead in the name of their religion, he is attempting to convince the same American public and the Western world at large to spend their blood and treasure to help Muslim Afghans, Iraqis, and now Lebanese, who heretofore — whether out of shared anti-Americanism or psychological satisfaction in seeing the overdog take a hit — have not been much eager to separate themselves from the rhetoric of radical Islam.

Why Israel Fights

Thanks to the Powerline blog for the video below, Why Israel Fights. Please, please watch this video. (If you have a blog, please spread the word by adding this video to your own blog. It's easy, just see Powerline's post, here.)

320 rockets were launched by Hezbollah against Israel on Monday and Tuesday. You can help Israel by donating to ARMDI (via Hugh Hewitt). I just did.

Excellent bloggers on the Israel/Hezbollah war: Yoni, TruthLaidBear, Mudville Gazette has the background on Hezbollah-again via Hugh Hewitt.

And breaking last night and early this morning? A new terror plot is foiled that could have killed more Americans that the 9/11 attacks did. Michelle Malkin will be updating this story throughout the day. She reports that the goal of this evil plot was "mass murder on an unimaginable scale."

Al Qaeda? Hezbollah? Hamas? Makes no difference, same evil ideology, same goals. Wake up Americans! As I said, Israel is our canary in the coal mine.

Reutergate, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Trust the Terrorists

What a wild and woolly weekend it was for the blogosphere! Much like the days of Rathergate, except this time, the clueless target is al-Reuters rather than CBS. Here's what happened over the weekends-at least on the blogs that I read:

    1. It all began with this post by Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs (affectionately known as LGF in the blogosphere) on Saturday, August 5th, 2006. Charles begins his post with: "OK, now things are getting weird." In this post he posts the offending, fake Reuters photo that has been obviously doctored. The smoke has obviously doctored, anyone can see the repeating patterns in the smoke. And as Charles also mentions, unbelievably, some of the buildings in the picture have been duplicated with Photoshop. (This is done in Photoshop with the clone stamp tool.) Johnson identifies the photographer as Adnan Hajj. Mr. Johnson has had his life threatened by an email message sent from an al-Reuters email address.
    2. Ace, at Ace of Spades Headquarters, jumps in with this post titled, Mr. Hajj, Meet Mr. Green Helmet. He backs off from declaring the photo faked. Then a little while later, he posts here, titled Big Update: The Original of that Doctored Photo?. He's guessing that someone will end up getting fired from all this: "Find that photo, and someone's getting fired. And then there's going to have to be a serious internal investigation by Reuters. And then the MSM is going to have re-examine its foreign stringer 'journalist' corps."
    3. At about 7 PM that day, Curt at Flopping Aces posts and links to the LGF post. Curt notes, as did Charles Johnson, that Adnan Hajj was involved with the Drive By Media (MSM) coverage of the Qana bombing-which he also notes was a terrorist setup. He mentions the man who is now known in the blogosphere as the Green Helmet Guy and is the local mortician that was photographed with all the dead children. Green Helmet Guy does seem to pop up all over the place. Curt writes: "All in all, just another day with the biased MSM trying to make news rather then cover the news.  Pathetic and sad." This post has great images that clearly demonstrate the fake photos that al-Reuters has been passing off as legitimate journalistic photos. He has several examples of more Adnan Hajj photos that have most likely been doctored.
    4. 2:05 AM, Ace links to the Small Dead Animals post naming the scandal-Reutergate!
    5. Ace beats Powerline's post (below) declaring that yes, al-Reuters admits that the photo was doctored. Ace notices: "Even I can see the very suspicious 'clonings' of picture elements here. And I'm an idiot." And: "It's not just this one picture. It is the MSM's "outsourcing" of most foreign news coverage to low-paid, low-experience, low-credentials, foreign "local" stringers who almost certainly have a very strong personal interest in 1) juicing their stories and pictures to make sure they sell and 2) advancing a political goal of slandering Israel that most Muslims, sadly, seem to share."
    6. Now fast forward to Sunday, August 6th, 2006 at about 7 AM. Powerline's post informs us that al-Reuters has admitted that the photo was doctored and they post al-Reuters' advisory. A Powerline reader asks: "The key questions: What else has been faked? What else has been manipulated? Who are the people hired by Western news agencies to report from Lebanon? What are their backgrounds? It's time to look even more carefully at Qana."
    7. Thomas Lifson, editor at The American Thinker, says: "Stop the Pixels!" He rightly praises Charles Johnson at LGF for finding a way to clearly demonstrate the fraud. Lifson notes: "We live in two different worlds, as the old pop song had it. One world employs local stringers who may well either be under the thumb of Hezbollah, Hamas, or other villainous groups, or who are outright partisans. But they claim to be objective. The other world, that of internet journalists, acknowledges upfront their political perspectives, and goes after the truth, unafraid to raise and answer questions in a continuing inquiry...The other world, or course, is that of internet journalism. As we saw in the Rathergate memos, serious inquiry into media manipulation of public opinion takes place first on the internet, where questions are asked, facts are dug up, analyses tested, and conclusions gradually strengthened as the evidence warrants. It is an interactive and collective inquiry. Adopting the language of the Japanese philosopher and entrepreneur Konnosuke Matsushita, I call this powerful intellectual process, 'The wisdom of the many.'" In an update to this post, Mr. Lifson quotes another blogger who has found a 2004 complaint against Adnan Hajj.
    8. Next up is Ed Morrissey at Captain's Quarters. His post titled, "What You Need To Know About Diplomacy And Journalism In War" is important because it explains clearly the double standard against Jews that is employed by the Drive Media (MSM) and diplomats.
    9. Back now to Charles Johnson at LGF. In this post he notes the unbelievably lame excuse that al-Reuters uses as an "explanation of why Adnan Hajj concocted an entirely faked photograph of a nonexistent Beirut." al-Reuters doesn't blame themselves for this outrage, but rather that Hajj was just trying to remove dust marks-in other words he was just trying to be a responsible photographer (eye roll).
    10. The Green Helmet Guy makes another appearance in this post, this time in Tyre doing what he seems to spend a lot of time doing, "making sure wire service photographers get close-up pictures of dead bodies."
    11. Rusty Shackleford finds another faked Adnan Hajj photo (HT: LGF).
    12. Michelle Malkin, as she usually does, posts a superb set of links along with a spot on cartoon.
    13. Kim at Wizbang notes that al-Reuters has fired the photographer, Adnan Hajj.
    14. Rush Limbaugh, on his Monday radio show's opening monologue, describes how the evidence against al-Reuters is absolutely devastating. Rush says he thinks this is serious because Americans tend to believe big media. The media has clearly chosen sides with Hezbollah.
    15. This story goes on and on in the blogosphere. For more, keep checking Little Green Footballs (you may have to keep checking back with LGF as that blog has, no surprise, gotten lots and lots of traffic in the last couple of days), Ace of Spades Headquarters, Michelle Malkin and Flopping Aces.

UPDATE: Via Ace-al-Reuters has pulled all 920 Adnan Hajj photos: "Reuters' global picture editor said there was "no graver breach" than the deliberate alteration of pictures. If that's the case -- why wasn't he more vigilant about patrolling for this gravest of all breaches? Even an idiot, as I said, could see that pic was altered. Does Reuters' global editor not even rise to the level of idoicy?"

UPDATE II: A blog for all notes (via Dan Riehl) that Adnan Hajj has another day job: "He's found Hajj's other job via a CSM report. He's an economic editor for the daily newspaper As-Safir. So, on top of producing photo edited works that exaggerate or distort the situation in Lebanon, he's also editing a Lebanese paper and quite likely overstating the effects of the Israeli campaign against Hizbullah as well as providing an additional outlet for his photographic business..."

UPDATE III: Michelle Malkin says that Reuters shouldn't pull the 920 Adnan Hajj photos, rather they should post them all so the bloggers can analyze them all and find out which ones were faked with Photoshop.

More on the Israeli/Hezbollah War

From the blogosphere today:

The Saudi's bust up a pro-Shiite/Hezbollah rally.

Intelligence Summit lists the latest battles of the war.

From Captain's Quarter's is an analysis of the Israeli attack on the port of Tyre: "While zealots may fight with surprising tenacity and insane levels of self-sacrifice, they cannot conduct complicated operations such as these raids, and therefore have little hope of ever beating Israel militarily. That, plus the advantage of Israeli air supremacy, puts Hezbollah at a serious disadvantage in open war..." And it seems that the Hezzbollah terrorists are having several Baghdad Bob moments lately.

This Powerline post has more on the traveling mortician of Qana. A Powerline reader spotted the same guy on Fox News at Tyre this morning. Also in this post, a quote from YnetNews.com about the lying misleading (and that's putting it charitably) Drive By Media (MSM): "As usual, most of the international media are doing a cover-up job on what was a heroic Israeli commando raid into the heart of the Hizbollah centre in the coastal town of Tyre in Lebanon. According to CNN and Sky reports Israel tried to land a couple of helicopters full of soldiers but were driven off by determined Hizbollah fire, leaving many Israeli soldiers wounded and one dead...The actual event was that elite Israeli commandos stormed a building in the Hizbollah stronghold of central Tyre. The building was the command and control centre that directed the fire of long range missiles into Israel, including the rocket that hit Hadera on Friday night. During the raid, the Israelis killed senior Hizbollah commanders and left with important intelligence material...Doesn't this sound a little different from what you were told about this event by your CNN, BBC, and Sky reporters?"

Michael Barone notes on his blog, that more Republicans than Democrats support Israel (HT: Powerline).

My comment? Go Israel, GO!!!!!!

UPDATE: more important blog posts-

Atlas links to a 1968 editorial, written "the brilliant marketing tool of the imaginary "Palestinians" came into vogue". Pamela, AKA Atlas, notes: "And we here  are 40 years later and the holocaust may very well be upon us."

Victor Davis Hanson has an important piece in the Washington Times today, It's Not Just About Land: "The answer boils down to Islamists feeling their reputation is at stake. Words like "honor" and "pride" are evoked-- in the sense they need to be regained -- by every insecure radical in the Islamic world, from al Qaeda's Osama bin Laden to Hezbollah's Sheik Hassan Nasrallah and Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Fist-shaking crowds, fiery mullahs and terrorists all boast of not giving an inch to infidels, and restoring the now sullied honor of the Islamic people. Why their hurt? For about the last half-century, globalization has bypassed most of the recalcitrant Middle East -- economically, socially and politically. So there are now few inventions and little science emanating from the Islamic world -- but a great deal of poverty, tyranny and violence. And rather than make the necessary structural changes that might end cultural impediments to progress and modernity -- such as tribalism, patriarchy, gender apartheid, polygamy, autocracy, statism and fundamentalism -- too many Middle Easterners have preferred to embrace the reactionary past and the cult of victimization..." (HT: LGF).

And on the disgusting Drive By Media (MSM) front, LGF links to an article in New York Magazine declaring that Israel is a mistake.

Israel, Our Canary in the Mine of Terrorism

Founts of wisdom and insight in the blogosphere today:

Victor Davis Hanson notes the parallels to the 1930's.

Israel continues to hit targets in Lebanon so Hezbollah is cut off from Syria-via Daniel Freedman's excellent blog, It Shines for All, at the New York Sun newspaper.

Again, from It Shines for All, is Hezbollah planning to attack America?

Ed Morrissey notes the irony of German troops protecting Israel's northern border.

From Instapundit: Iran will continue to supply Hezbollah with rockets.

Powerline notes that this Israeli/Hezbollah war is not about territory, but rather, Jihad.

Here is the New York Post's account if Israel's Baalbed raid in the Bekaa Valley-here is the video (HT: Powerline).

Today I added two new categories to this blog: Israel and Victor Davis Hanson.

US House Committee Chair Wants to Reopen Saddam/WMD Investigation

Ed Morrissey links to a New York Sun article reporting that a US House Committee Chair want to reopen the Saddam/WMD/pre war intelligence investigation:

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is studying 12 hours of audio recordings between Saddam Hussein and his top advisers that may provide clues to the whereabouts of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

The committee has already confirmed through the intelligence community that the recordings of Saddam's voice are authentic, according to its chairman, Rep. Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, who would not go into detail about the nature of the conversations or their context. They were provided to his committee by a former federal prosecutor, John Loftus, who says he received them from a former American military intelligence analyst.

Mr. Loftus will make the recordings available to the public on February 17 at the annual meeting of the Intelligence Summit, of which he is president. On the organization's Web site, Mr. Loftus is quoted as promising that the recordings "will be able to provide a few definitive answers to some very important - and controversial - weapons of mass destruction questions." Contacted yesterday by The New York Sun, Mr. Loftus would only say that he delivered a CD of the recordings to a representative of the committee, and the following week the committee announced that it was reopening the investigation into weapons of mass destruction.

Our government is responsible for protecting us from our enemies. If there are WMD in Syria, or under the control of any other rogue regime, our government must find out about this-and take all necessary actions.

UPDATE: Jonah Goldberg advises caution on this story as John Loftus is the source.

1500 Gallons of WMD Chemicals Found in Iraq

This is being reported in the Washington Post. Some moonbat commenters over at Captain's Quarters almost immediately started in with that ol' lefty song, you know the one-Bush lied, there was no WMD in Iraq. To which Ed Morrissey responds:

"Apparently the same people who keep posting comments think that 1500 gallons of chemical-weapons precursors can simply pop up out of nowhere, however. Is it so hard to figure out that either they likely came from Syria or from a hidden cache somewhere in Northern Iraq -- and to understand the implications of either scenario? They can't exactly fly them in from the Home Depot in Ankara, folks. Neither the Zarqawi terrorists nor the Ba'athist remnant insurgents have that kind of protection for the extended lines of communications necessary to get them into Mosul from Saudi Arabia or Jordan or Iran."

Rush Limbaugh Show DittoPod Index - June 30, 2005

This is a brief description of the topics covered on Rush's program today. The time noted indicates where in the podcast (mp3 file) the topic begins.

Hour 1 - Rush Limbaugh Program

:20 - Former Iranian hostages say that the new Iranian president is a major hostage taker, he is a terrorist.
3:50 - Yesterday Rush reminds us that he said that Bush's real problem are maverick Republicans. ABC had a report of 2 Democrat attacking Bush's references to the 911 attacks. Rush: Nobody has said there is a direct link between Iraq and 911. Democrats had better figure out soon that Bush is never running for office again. The bigger point is that ABC used Rush to attack instead of an elected Republican.
8:54 - 2 reporters have until next week to turn over their sources or go to jail. Matt Cooper, who is with Time Magazine, will surrender his sources and notes. The lack of free speech has now been turned on the MSM. It's ironic since the MSM was all for McCain Feingold. The New York Times publisher is disappointed that Time has caved. Rush thinks it's absurd that these reporters are going to jail. The press does have constitutional protection.
12:22 - The case of Wen Ho Lee is much more troubling and serious. Journalists based on anonymous government sources accused Lee of being guilty of treason. The judge apologized to him for the court. Lee has filed suit against the 4 reporters who destroyed his career and reputation.
17:37 - One of the hostages taken by terrorists in Iran recognizes the new president of Iran as one of the major hostage takers. He was an interrogator.
19:45 - There should be no surprise that the Iranian president is a terrorists. Rush has long held that we are actually fighting Iran in Iraq.
23:35 - Caller: She requests that Rush sell Camp Gitmo bath towels.
25:45 - Caller: He thinks Lee was a cover for the Clinton administration's allowing missile technology to be sold to the Chinese. Rush isn't sure this was the case because the MSM didn't find anything wrong with this to begin with.
31:08 - Yesterday Barbara Boxer refused to say that the war in Iraq was not worth it. She was on Fox News.

Rush Limbaugh Show DittoPod Index - June 28, 2005

This is a brief description of the topics covered on Rush's program today. The time noted indicates where in the podcast (mp3 file) the topic begins.

Hour 1 - Rush Limbaugh Program

:07 - The MSM is so excited because they think that Bush will do a mea culpa tonight.
4:59 - A member of our military sent Rush a message thanking him for the mp3 files on Rush 24/7 so he can listen to Rush's show over there.
8:42 - Rush noticed a story on his RSS feed that was a red lined version of a Reuters story. The Reuters story replaced the description of the hardline president elect of Iran with "ultra conservative" president elect. The editing of the story's text is very biased.
11:06 - A study finds that radio listeners have the most extreme views and newpaper readers have the least extreme views.
11:42 - In Texas an old lady lived in a small home and a mall was built around her. She refused to give up her home. After the Kelo decision by the court last week, she would have to leave/give up her home.
14:52 - In Kentucky people are outraged at the court's decision ruling that they must take down the 10 Commandments from the inside of their courthouses.
17:00 - The president's speech about Iraq is going to be a re-statement of what he's said before. The purpose of the speech is not to change policy, but rather to raise awareness about the war.
19:17 - Freestarmedia.com issued a press release to the New Hampshire media. They are going to work at taking Justice Souter's home from him so a hotel can be built on the land.
24:06 - Caller: He wore a Club Gitmo t-shirt yesterday to Star Bucks. He was assailed by an enraged liberal. The caller confronted the lib and he backed down. Rush thinks that Star Bucks is a good place to wear your Gitmo t-shirts.
27:07 - Caller: He attended the University of Missouri and he found it the most liberally biased campus he's ever seen of heard of. Rush says that he loves the enemies that he's got. The rap against this program is that the listeners are idiots. The survey confirms what the elites think. The partisanship is fueled by the left's conspiracy theories. Internet news consumers were among the least extreme news consumers.

DittoPod Index - June 13, 2005

This is a brief description of the topics covered on Rush's program today. The time noted indicates where in the podcast (mp3 file) the topic begins.

Hour 1 - Rush Limbaugh Program

2:00 - Who will be the Republican nominee in 2008?
3:41 - Robert Novak column: some California Democrats who do not like the idea of Hillary Clinton as the nominee in 2008
9:05 - Iraq: some Republican congressmen calling for time table for US withdrawal from Iraq/Rush questions that it's an insurgency that we're fighting in Iraq/thinks that we are actually fighting Iran and Syria in Iraq
14:25 - Contrasts casualties in Iraq to casualities in Iwo Jima and other World War II battles
16:19 - 60's generation claims to admire The Greatest Generation, but Rush thinks that the 60's generation hypocritically abhors the tactics used by the American military to win World War II
14:25 - Contrasts casualties in Iraq to casualities in Iwo Jima and other World War II battles
24:20 - Discussion of the fact that you cannot win a war in court: the worst of the worst are imprisoned at Gitmo/White House is split as to whether to close Gitmo
29:48 - Sound bite of Fox News morning show: Time Magazine reporter admits that by forcing a Gitmo detainee to sit for hours until his limbs were swollen, the detainee gave up information about Bin Laden body guards

Hour 2 - Rush Limbaugh Program

1:15 - Why can't we look at this war through the template of wars where we were successful
1:53 - Dichotomy of US outlook after 9/11 because the FBI/CIA/government didn't connect the dots, but now there's all this outrage at the efforts being made to prevent another attack against our country
3:35 - Duncan Hunter on Fox News Sunday: lists the benefits of detainees at Gitmo
5:14 - Winning wars is not about getting people to like us, that we have probably become a big standing joke to the terrorists
7:38 - Congressman Weldon states that the resistance in Iraq stem from Iran and Syria, he states that Bin Laden has been in Iran in the last five months
11:20 - Caller thinks that Rush takes the torture issue too lightly/Rush challenges the caller and liberals in general as to why none of them express any reaction to beheading of Americans, emphases that we are not becoming our enemies - that we are not cutting heads off of people or filling mass graves
16:54 - Caller who's son died in Iraq says that he is outraged by Americans who strive to ruin our war efforts, he blames Kennedy, Dean, Kerry and others
20:00 - Rush is being compared to Howard Dean/Howard Dean is being justified in what he is doing because he operates like Rush does
25:00 - LA Times reports that Democrat leaders have told Howard Dean to tone down his remarks
27:14 - Relationship between MSM and Dean: Dean says outrageous things that liberal kooks think, the media reports it, then to be fair and balanced the MSM has to go out and report on that crazy Tom DeLay

10:49 - Columns written after the Iraqi elections asked if Bush might have been right to invade and liberate the country, but those were editorials - the MSM reporters never thought that Bush was right. Rush thinks that the Koran/Gitmo hysteria started with the failure of the Bush National Guard CBS story. Abu Ghraib again became the rallying point for the libs after RatherGate and then the Newsweek/Koran contraversy. Basically the MSM are circling the wagons to protect each other.

Time to Catch Up on VDH

I haven't listed Victor Davis Hanson's columns lately. Time to correct that oversight:

Our Strange War - Looking Ahead, Our Options

As September 11 fades in the memory, too many Americans feel that it is time to let bygones be bygones. Some now consider Islamic fascism and its method of terror a “nuisance” that will go away if we just come home. We are a society where many of our elite believe the killer bin Laden is less of a threat than the elected George Bush. Al Qaeda keeps promising to kill us all; meanwhile Ralph Nader wants the wartime president impeached for misuse of failed intelligence.

Syria Leaves Lebanon

Syria completes the pull out of its military and intelligence agents from Lebanon. Wretchard at Belmont Club comments:

" Syria is withdrawing actual assets, that is to say the basis of its tangible strength from its former semi-colony. After the the successful destruction of the Ba'athist regime in Iraq weakened Syria's position internationally it's sole claim to hegemony over Lebanon were its secret service and army personnel. Now these are being pulled back."

Federal Agents Questions Reporter for 3 Hours

Michelle Malkin's blog links to the latest in a series of reports by Annie Jacobsen. Last summer I read two or three of her reports about Northwest flight 327 that she and her husband took from Detroit to Los Angeles. On that flight were 13 Syrian musicians who acted like they were going to hijack and/or blow up the airliner.  Ms. Jacobsen reports that the passengers on the plane were terrified that they would be killed.

Recently federal agents came to her house and questioned her about the flight. In this, her latest article, she says what I have not seen reported anywhere before:

"Standing in my kitchen, one of the agents said, "What I can tell you is this: Mohammed Atta was one of the passengers on that flight with James Woods." (Apparently, this information has never been made public.)"

As Ms Malkin posts on her blog about actor, James Woods:

"Yes, we all recall when James Woods came forward after the 9/11 attacks to recount his suspicions about the dry run on his flight (Jeff Quinton sends this transcript as a reminder). The new news is that a federal agent revealed Atta's presence on the flight."

Be sure to read Ms. Jacobsen's article.

Read Steyn!

Vodkapundit points us to another great column by Mark Steyn. All about Syria's loser Assad regime. Thinking is that his days are numbered.

And Steyn offers this disgusting, unbelievable reminder:

You can scoff at this agenda, but go back just five years, to the death of ol' Pa Assad. "I received word not very long ago of President Assad's death in Syria today," said an emotional Bill Clinton at Minneapolis Airport. "I was very saddened by it, and I want to offer condolences to his son, his family and the people of Syria."

Oh please, just gag me!!
